Description

Join CAM Educators during April Vacation week to plant historic gardens at the Cape Ann Museum Green. Learn about the historic White-Ellery House, built in 1710, and the Babson-Alling House, built c. 1740, and how the occupants used gardens to feed themselves and their communities.

On Wednesday, April 20, students will help plant a raised garden bed built by educators from Backyard Growers outside the White-Ellery House. Learn about the Three Sisters Garden, used by Indigenous peoples in this area both historically and in modern day, and explore everything from scrapbooks of pressed plants to glass plate negatives of flowers in the CAM Library & Archives.

All participants are invited to celebrate Earth Day at CAM Green on Friday, April 22 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm with a free community-wide event unveiling the gardens!

Families can also visit the Downtown Campus, which is free for families with children under 18 from Tuesday April 19 – Saturday April 23 to celebrate the opening of the 2021-2022 Community Art Exhibition, Sculpting Self.
