There's a lot going on in the natural world in winter, so bundle up the family and join us for one or more of these explorations.
January 8: Tracking Animals
Some animals hibernate, some migrate, and some stay active in winter. Explore the sanctuary woodlands looking for clues of what animals have been eating and where they have been sleeping. Discover tracks in the snow and guess which animals made them.
February 12: Backyard Birdwatching
What birds eat seed from birdfeeders in winter? Together find out which kind of seeds birds like best by offering a few choices. Black-capped Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, and White-breasted Nuthatch are just a few of the feathered friends we'll discover along the way.
April 2: Vernal Pool Visit
Have you ever seen a Spotted Salamander or a mass of Wood Frog eggs? Many amphibians depend on a special place called vernal pools for their survival. See if you can find evidence of breeding frogs and salamanders during our visit to a vernal pool.
